Ultraceuticals A-Zyme Peel

Thinking about having a peel? Good for you! Not only are they important in maintaining the health of your skin, but they are also one of the most effective facial treatments there is. Chemical peels can be used to correct issues such as uneven tone, fine lines and wrinkles, dark spots and even acne. The Ultraceuticals A-Zyme Peel's key ingredient is Retinol, one of the most effective anti-ageing ingredients available, combined with Bromelain. This fast-acting, non-invasive skin rejuvenation treatment has been carefully formulated to combat the effects of ageing and UV damage, as well as improve the appearance of fine lines, skin tone and texture.

The A-Zyme Peel features 1% Retinol and 6% Bromelain.

Clinical studies have shown Bromelain to be a powerful enzyme, deriving from the stem of the pineapple plant, and is highly effective in exfoliating and removing surface residue. This enzyme acts like a ‘Pac man’ eating away dead skin cells. It was discovered by pineapple pickers in Hawaii as they started to lose their fingerprints!

Retinol is Vitamin A that stimulates Hyaluronic Acid production, helping to regulate oil flow and increases cell turnover. By increasing the cell turnover in the skin this will increase the production of collagen while also preventing the degradation of collagen.

In addition, the A-Zyme Peel can also be a good solution for those with acne by managing our skin’s oil levels and reducing the build-up of dead skin cells and improving the skin’s overall luminosity.

As Retinol has been shown to support the production of new skin cells, the A-Zyme Peel also can target dryness and dehydration, as well as blotchiness – all factors that contribute to visible ageing. It achieves this by dramatically retexturing the skin and plumping up fine lines and wrinkles with increased hydration to leave the skin looking clarified, refreshed and luminous.

Is it suitable for my skin?

The A-Zyme Peel is compatible with most skin types, however, it is not suitable for women who are pregnant or lactating. If you are on any medications or have been using Retin A, be sure to discuss this with your Therapist, as it may impact your choice of skin peel. We recommend that you have a fully curated skin script written specifically for you by one of our skilled Therapists before starting your A-Zyme journey to ensure that your skin’s lipid barrier is stable and ready for the peel.

Does the treatment take long?

The A-Zyme Peel can stay on your skin for up to 10 mins depending on how comfortable you feel. Most clients describe their skin feeling ‘tingling’ or active while the peel is on.

Recommended home care may include products containing Vitamin A, as well as Lactic Acid (AHA) and Salicylic Acid (BHA).

How many courses do I need?

We generally recommend a course of four to six A-Zyme Peels to observe optimal results but this will vary according to your skin and what your Therapist recommends.

Post-treatment Care

A couple days after the A-Zyme Peel you might experience peeling and flaking. You can continue using your baseline Ultraceuticals products four to five days after the peel. It’s best to also avoid all active/corrective products in your home care for four to five days after the peel. These products includes AHA’s, BHA’s, Vitamin A (Retinol) and any manual types of exfoliation. We also recommend that you do not participate in any peels or Microdermabrasion for two weeks post peel.
